Groups & Programs

Age-based Playgroups

Playgroups are a great way to meet other moms and children. Each group is coordinated based the child’s age, so both mom can meet other moms going through the same development stages, and the child can have fun learning from his or her peers.  Playgroups are member-driven, and no group is just like the other.  Some meet regularly at the park, others do more home-based play dates, some even host evening “happy hours” for both mom and kiddo to relax.  The frequency and scope of activities is really up to the members of the playgroup, but they all offer chances for kids of the same age-group to play and interact in various settings, and chances for moms to make supportive friendships.  New playgroups form annually! Come join us, and make your playgroup great!

Children’s Parties

The CVMC hosts parties and events for members and their families with an emphasis on children’s entertainment and family fun. We do our best to plan parties and events that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, although some may be more suited to a specific age group. Children’s Parties are planned at least quarterly, sometimes more often.

Book Club

Do you like to read? Well if you do, join our book club. We meet monthly and try to alternate every other month between serious and silly books. The books, meeting times, and dates are determined by those who attend the meetings. It is a laid-back setting where we spend half of the time discussing the books and half of the time just catching up while enjoying time away from the kids for a couple of hours. Some examples of past books we have read: The Mountains Echoed, Furiously Happy, The Tiger’s Wife, Toddlers are assholes; and it’s not your fault, Beautiful Ruins, The Pearl who Broke it’s Shell. Come Join us! Happy Reading.

Welcoming Parties

Welcoming Parties are as the name implies intended to give a hearty welcome to new members and their families to the club. They are held quarterly and are family friendly and inclusive of multiple ages of children. New and veteran members are always encouraged to come so that new and long term members can have a chance to mingle and get to know each other.  Want more information? Email the coordinator

Date Night

We know it is hard to make time for your significant other while riding the roller coaster of parenthood. We host a quarterly date night (formerly called Adult Social) to help families carve out adult time. Get a sitter, and come join us for a night out!

Community Outreach

Community Outreach is a wonderful way to give back to the community and get involved in one’s locality in fun, rewarding and unique ways. The Castro Valley Mothers Club may participate in several major annual events, as well as smaller monthly events and activities. These have included the Halloween Parade for Baywood Court, a senior independent living, assisted living & skilled nursing home in Castro Valley, a food drive for Castro Valley Outreach in October/ November, a coat drive for One Warm Coat and a Toy Drive, both in December, the Annual Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade in May, the CV Light Parade, and the Annual Castro Valley Fall Festival.

Questions? E-mail the Community Outreach Coordinator

The CVMC runs communications and events through Bigtent. This means that any active member can interact with other participating member moms via this web platform. If you are looking for advice, have something to give away, or just want to share some information, it is as simple as sending one email. You will be able to see all the responses to your questions, as well as responses to other member’s questions! This is also where you will find out about all CVMC hosted events, like Mom’s Night Out, Steering Committee Meetings, parties etc.
